A Tribute to His Legacy, Today, September 15th, marks the 81st birthday of His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni—a towering figure in Uganda’s history whose leadership has shaped the nation for nearly four decades. As Ugandans reflect on his journey, we take a moment to extend heartfelt birthday wishes and express gratitude for the milestones achieved under his stewardship.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Mzee!

From Ntungamo to the helm of national leadership, President Museveni’s life has been one of resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to Uganda’s progress. His birthday is not just a personal celebration—it’s a moment for the nation to honour the legacy of a man who has stood at the forefront of Uganda’s transformation.

Economic Growth and Stability: Since assuming office in 1986, President Museveni has overseen a remarkable economic expansion. Uganda’s economy grew from a modest Shs14.4 trillion to over Shs128.5 trillion by 2019. Real GDP growth averaged 6.1% over three decades, placing Uganda among the region’s top performers. His administration prioritized infrastructure, increasing paved roads from just 1,000 km in 1986 to over 5,500 km by 2019, and boosting electricity generation from 150 MW to 1,254 MW.

Under Museveni’s leadership, poverty levels dropped dramatically—from 56.4% in 1986 to just 19.7% by 2019. Life expectancy rose from 48 years in 1995 to 63 years by 2017, and maternal mortality rates saw significant reductions. His government also supported the growth of local industry, with the number of factories increasing from 80 to nearly 5,000.

President Museveni also consistently celebrated Uganda’s achievements in sports and culture. Most recently, he hosted the Uganda Cranes at State House following their commendable performance in the 2024 African Nations Championship. He offered strategic insights and fulfilled a generous pledge of Shs2.4 billion to reward the team’s victories—a gesture that underscored his belief in nurturing national talent.

The president has also emphasized the importance of cultural heritage, pledging government support to institutions like the Busoga Kingdom and recognizing their role in national transformation.

As Uganda celebrates this milestone, we thank President Museveni for his enduring service, his vision for a self-reliant and peaceful Uganda, and his commitment to lifting millions out of poverty. His legacy is etched in the roads we travel, the schools we attend, the hospitals we rely on, and the pride we feel as Ugandans. The ‘Bazukulu’ and the entire Uganda at large have already decided to be behind you come 2026 as a sign of loyalty, appreciation and love.

🎂Happy 81st Birthday, Your Excellency!

May this day be filled with joy, reflection, and the love of a grateful nation. Uganda salutes you.
