HIDDEN UGANDA is the latest one-hour global television special hosted by legendary, Emmy award-
winning journalist Peter Greenberg, and is the very first HIDDEN produced within the continent of
Africa. To celebrate this occasion, a special VIP screening was held on February 12, 2025 in New York
prior to the official broadcast launch. The occasion was graced by a delegation from Uganda led by
Diana Kyaremera, representing the President of Uganda, Hon. Martin Mugara, Minister of State for
Tourism, Doreen Katusiime, PS Ministry of Tourism and Priscilla Butagira, Special Presidential
Assistant on Tourism State House plus a Uganda delegation form the US led by Amb.Robbie Kakonge
and Amb.Duncan Muhumuza. Invited guests included our partners from UNDP led by Aissata De,
Regional Deputy Director, US-based tour operators and journalists.
HIDDEN UGANDA offers an in-depth look of a country, where Greenberg visited special locations and
experiences ranging from a deep immersion into street food in Kampala to extreme white-water
rafting down the Nile, from gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to jamming with local
bands, where old rhythms live on and ancient instruments create modern sounds; from chimpanzee
reserves in Lake Victoria to grinding beans at old school coffee farms, even training with Uganda's
national baseball team.
HIDDEN UGANDA is currently rolling out to PBS television stations across the United States, and is
available for streaming on March 17 on Amazon, Prime and Apple TV+. It will air on PBS for three
months running.
58% of all US Television households, more than 130 million people watch PBS via traditional
television. PBS and its member stations are America’s undisputed home for documentary
storytelling. During the 2022-2023 season, PBS offered over 200 hours of new documentary content,
seen by more than 50 million people.
The HIDDEN UGANDA documentary will greatly boost our efforts to market Uganda’s tourism in the
US market.
